Sharon Lynch's flowers — the peonies, roses, hydrangeas and tulips of her paintings — on a line of Christmas ornaments, launching this holiday season in the boutique. They're made to be the ones you notice on the tree, and to be given: a box of them is a hostess gift that doesn't get re-gifted. Holiday isn't a corner of the shop; it's the shop. From late fall the rooms are dressed — trees, garlands, the blue-and-white brought forward, the silver polished for once — and the inventory shifts toward what the season needs: candlesticks and candelabra, trays and punch bowls, tureens and platters, Delft and porcelain for the table, ornaments and décor, and the gifts. Naples fills up in December; come early, and come more than once.
This is where old things earn their keep. A pair of Georgian candlesticks, a Victorian tea service, an English tureen, a set of blue-and-white plates that don't match and look better for it — one antique piece on a holiday table changes the whole thing, and they cost less than most people expect.
