About the shop

Old souls, new obsessions.

Anodyne Antiques is a small, owner-run shop in Naples, Florida, for people who like their things with a little history attached — and for families who suddenly have a house full of history and need someone honest to call.

Why "Anodyne"

An anodyne is something that soothes. It seemed the right name for a shop built around two ideas: that a good old object makes a room calmer, and that when a family has to deal with a lifetime of belongings, the process should be made easier, not harder.

Who's behind it

The shop is run by Chris — born and raised in Naples — who has spent more than 15 years buying, evaluating and settling estates here and along the Gulf coast, first in jewelry and silver, then in everything else a good Florida house tends to hold. That experience is the whole business: knowing what a thing is, what it's genuinely worth, and where in the world it will do best.

You'll deal with Chris directly. There's no call center, no middleman, and no one being paid to pressure you.

How we work

  • Honest first. If a piece belongs at auction, we say so, even when it means we don't buy it. If it's a reproduction, we say that too.
  • In writing. Offers, consignment terms, auction arrangements and estate evaluations are documented, so executors and families have a record.
  • Discreet. We don't discuss whose estate a piece came from, and we work by appointment whenever a family would prefer it.
  • Connected. Years of consigning have built working relationships with regional and international auction houses, independent appraisers, conservators and movers — a network we put to work for you, without the sales pitch.

The address

We share Suite 104 at 6240 Shirley Street with two good neighbors: Sharon Lynch Collections, a gallery of original floral paintings, and our sister shop Naples Estate Jewelry, which handles jewelry, gold, watches and coins. Between the three of us, one visit can cover an entire estate — and one very good hour can cover an afternoon.
